Open AI models should not depend on any single company.
Decande Models is an open network for downloading, sharing and preserving artificial intelligence models across independent nodes. No central platform should decide which model exists, which technology gets priority or who is allowed to download it.
AI model distribution should not belong to a company.
Open licenses do not remove infrastructure dependence. When discovery and downloads rely on one catalogue or provider, that organization remains able to change the rules, favor a hardware stack, restrict access or remove the file.
Decande separates the model from the platform. Content-addressed files can move directly between people, institutions and machines. If one node disappears, other nodes can keep the model available.
The goal is not to replace one monopoly with another. The goal is to make AI model distribution impossible for any single platform to monopolize.
Content is the identity.
A node splits an AI model into blocks and publishes a verifiable manifest addressed by cryptographic hashes.
A distributed hash table finds independent nodes that announce the requested content.
The receiver obtains blocks from one or several peers and verifies every byte locally.
Replicas can continue serving the model after its original publisher, account or server disappears.
Working technical preview
The local core, verification and resilience demonstration work. This is not yet a public production network: an external audit and a multi-operator pilot still remain.
Frequently asked questions.
Is Decande Models a decentralized alternative to AI model repositories?
Yes, at the distribution layer. It may complement existing catalogues while ensuring the underlying file does not depend exclusively on them.
Can one company shut down Decande Models?
No company should be able to shut down the entire network. Each operator controls its own node and replicated models can continue circulating without the origin.
Does Decande favor CUDA, a cloud provider or a model format?
No. The protocol distributes verifiable content and is intended to remain neutral regarding hardware, execution platform and file format.
Is the network production-ready?
No. v0.1 is a technical preview intended for local evaluation. The project states this limitation publicly.
